Our Intimate Beach Wedding Ucluelet B.C | 09.25.19

When Lorren and I begun planning our wedding we decided pretty early on that we wanted something small and intimate where our family and a few close friends could spend the whole weekend together in celebration; soaking in the beautiful nature of Ucluelet B.C – which is one of our favourite spots in the world!

While planning we knew that we wanted everything to be really simple and easy.  No big decorations, not a lot of fuss or traditions that didn’t feel right for us.  We chose the things that were meaningful to us – the people, the place, soaking in the environment, and the time spent together.

I found a beautiful cabin with a private beach that we decided would be the perfect spot to host our celebration party and we knew we wanted to get married right there by the water. Everyone helped in so many ways whether it was bringing up food, booze or decorations; it truly made everything even more special and meaningful for us. My day of coordinator – who I cannot thank enough for ALL her help, Zoe, set up the space, she sourced out local driftwood + greens and created a gorgeous yet simple atmosphere that was everything I could have asked for!

On the day of our wedding the forecast decided it was going to change up on us, like the weather often does, and we experienced a true west coast wedding! Although it was raining non-stop we enjoyed the day and soaked up every.little.moment! Our incredible photographer, Kim Jay, made sure that we were taken care of and that despite any cold or rain – we were making sure to celebrate it ALL!

Some of my  favourite moments of the day was from our ceremony! I had my sister do a grounding meditation prior to beginning, Leo stood with us holding our hands and when we looked around with the misty rain and we were surrounded by people that have held us up and loved us through thick and thin it truly felt magical.

Fun fact: walking down the aisle after we were married, I had all our guests toss dried flower petals that I had collected from every 2019 wedding as well as flowers Lorren had given me throughout the year!

Biggest advice I can offer my couples:

  1. Do your wedding YOUR way – this is so so so important!
  2. Even if it rains – embrace it! It’s worth it…trust me!

I wouldn’t have changed anything from our wedding.  It was absolutely perfect and my wish is for all my couples to experience the same feeling that we did!
