The Adventure
The idea to do a styled Nordegg elopement came to me when Maranda had reach out asking to do an adventurous couple shoot with her beau, Danny, in Crescent Falls. These two love exploring the beautiful Rocky Mountains and spend most of their weekends hiking, mountain biking, camping and river rock hunting (to name a few activities) and I honestly couldn’t have pictured a better suited couple to help bring this vision to life. So I found the perfect dress from Lulus, connected with Edmonton best vendors and made it happen!
We got up at 5:00 am and hit the road out to Nordegg. I was so excited the night before that I could barely sleep. After having a ridiculous cold snap in Edmonton the weather took a turn and ended up gracing us with blue skies and a very mild temperature of +3 degrees, which I know still sounds chilly but trust me…it’s better than the ladder!
When we got to Nordegg we found out that the place we were planning on getting ready at was closed but, as luck would have it, we found the perfect little hotel/diner and we were all able to enjoy some food and get our “bride” ready!
Fast forward to arriving in Crescent Falls, my heart burst with joy and excitement because I truly hadn’t ever seen anything SO beautiful. PEOPLE, if you haven’t been to the Canadian Rockies….PLEASE GO!! and if you want to get married there…hire me 😉
We had to climb down a wicked descent to get into the falls, with all of our gear and props. Luckily we all had ice grips on our shoes because seriously, we were literally sliding down the path! When we got down we had our bride and groom separate, because I wanted the ‘first look’ to feel real. I wanted the couple to truly have genuine and excited reactions for when they saw each other all dressed up and boy, was it ever so sweet. I think Danny may have even shed a tear.
When sharing this blog post, I wanted to also share some of the fun BTS images because truly this was so much more than just a styled elopement…it was about a bunch of amazing people collaborating together, having fun and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
So enjoy, enjoy enjoy , let the beauty of the great Canadian outdoors rock your mind and feed your soul with all the love, light and laughter that this shoot brought to me!
