a guide to
This session is all about slowing down and taking it in...celebrating the two of you, your love, and the beautiful life you've created together. It's a chance to capture moments that tell your story, embrace your individuality and illustrate the unique love that you share.
This is about you both - who you two really are together when no one is around - so let's see your weird and playful sides, those parts of you that are only shared together! Embrace those quiet, tender moments or the loud and quirky ones - whatever it is that makes you both special is what I want to see through my lens! That way, you can know that you'll love the result, because it will be a true reflection of who you are, as a couple and as individuals.
All that I ask of you is to be unapologetically you. And let go of any fears or insecurities. Relax and be loved as you are. Remember, this is an opportunity for you two to spend time together. To connect, to turn off your phones and be present in the moment.
This is about you both
who you two really are together
The most important thing during our session is you- you. How you feel is equally as important as receiving your beautiful images. I promise to make this experience joyful, safe, and of course, fun!
Engagement sessions are tailored to you individually as a couple! We will pick a place based on a meaningful, safe, and personal location for you and the shoot will last for up to 2 hours -- each shoot is different based on you and the kind of location you love.
Honestly think about what that looks like for you. Ask yourselves -- what do you like to do together for fun? Where do you feel safe and at peace? Is it outdoors roaming around in a field, downtown dressed up getting a cocktail, or is it cozied up together at home?
This is an opportunity for you two to simply just be and celebrate your life -- doing exactly what makes you, you.
Let me start off by saying that the most important thing to remember when choosing your outfits for your session is ensuring they really feel like YOU! This is not a fashion show - this is a deeply meaningful time to document in your life. By no means do I want to tell you exactly what to wear, but I am here to help provide you with tips & tricks that will help make the decisions feel less intimidating.
Remember confidence is everything and the best way to dress for a shoot is to wear what you feel most YOU in; something that's comfortable and that makes you feel amazing.
I also love seeing outfit ideas prior so if you want, feel free to snap a photo and send it my way if you need help!
Keep the location and environment in mind when you are choosing your outfits. You want to either match or contrast the location. Some clients want to choose color tones that match the location and others want to wear something that makes them pop from the background!
Coordinate your outfits together, you want your styles and colours to compliment each other but not be super matchy! When you lay your outfits out next to each other and see it as a whole...it should look like you are going to the same place.
You can always bring along an extra outfit and don't forget to bring accessories like jackets, hats, scarves and any funky jewellery that represents you and fits the environment we are in!
Remember, choose your outfits ahead of time, don't leave it till last minute. No one wants to be stressed the day of their session

When it comes to what photographs beautifully, I generally recommend leaning into neutrals or earthy tones—these are timeless and tend to photograph with a soft, understated elegance. But don’t worry, neutrals aren’t limited to just beige or grey. Think of tones like olive green, mustard yellow, rust, navy, and soft terracotta—colours that have depth without overpowering the frame.
That said, if your personal style leans toward bold or bright, I’m all for leaning into that—as long as it’s done in a way that feels considered and elevated. A vibrant piece can absolutely work when balanced thoughtfully within the overall look. Aim for tones that complement your skin and avoid overly fluorescent shades, which can create harsh colour casts on the face.
As for patterns—small-scale or subtle designs tend to work best. Loud, high-contrast prints can pull attention away from your connection and facial expressions. If one of you is wearing something patterned or graphic (I love a good vintage tee or band shirt!), I recommend the other person opting for something simpler to keep the focus where it matters most: on the two of you.
I'm really into monochromatic pairings at the moment—head-to-toe in similar tones can look incredibly polished and stylish on camera. If that’s your vibe, go for it!
Lastly, it’s a small thing, but it really makes a difference—give everything a quick steam or iron beforehand to avoid distracting wrinkles. Clean lines help keep the focus on your connection, where it belongs.
"Let’s tell a story that could never look like it belonged to anyone else but you."

I recommend bringing clothes that are "broken in" so that you will be as comfortable as possible, if you are in a stiff pair of jeans it will be really hard for you to run around and you'll get distracted making sure everything stays in place. You don't want to feel restricted in your outfit!
I LOVE dresses or long flowy skirts! Layers and movement help to make photos more dynamic and add visual interest to your photos, when it catches the wind it adds energy that can’t be mimicked any other way!
For men, a good pair of chinos or jeans with a neutral colour shirt with a jean jacket, sweater, or light jacket (depending what you are wearing) always looks good!

If doing your hair & make-up are things that helps you to feel confident, then do it! Whatever will make you feel your best, do that! If you are going make appointments to get glammed up, try schedule these at least three hours before the shoot so you aren't late! If you need any vendor recommendations let me know!
Don't jam-pack your schedule by running a bunch of errands or trying to complete a to-do-list on your session day. Take it slow, breathe and unwind before. Do a little extra self-care. Enjoy a bath. Go out for a good meal - take the time to connect. Think of this like an amazing date night and treat yourselves will care & love.
During the session, you will want to be free of all belongings, so plan on carrying the bare minimum, leaving purses, bags, cell phones etc in your car or with me if you need.
