Intimate Backyard Ceremony
Pam and Steve asked me to take photos of their civil ceremony held in their backyard with their close family before they went to Mexico to tie the knot in front of all their family and friends! I had such a great time with these two, it was so relaxed and casual. We started off our session by doing an in home couples shoot. As soon as I walked into their living room I noticed a beautiful white brick fire place and knew immediately I wanted them to cuddle up in front and have some fun. We lit candles, pulled up some pillows, put on a playlist and of course, we all enjoyed an afternoon mimosa! Pam and Steve are one of those couples that just flow together, wherever she goes he follows, her hand in his, his hand on her cheeks gently brushing away her hair, her smile set aside just for him. They have been together for 7 years and it shows, they way they love one another is so deep, connected and real.
Soon after we were finishing up our couples session family began to arrive, the chatter and the laughter filled the house as the couple got ready for their civil ceremony! It was so exciting, knowing they were about to say their I do’s yet it was so casual and comfortable because it was just immediate family. We created a circle around them in their backyard, the soft afternoon sun hidden by the clouds created a beautiful and peaceful light. Pam wanted to make sure her grandpa got to take part in witnessing her and Steve exchange vows as he wouldn’t be able to make it to their wedding in Mexico. I could tell by the look of love and admiration he had on his face, he was so happy to see his granddaughter marry such a wonderful and loving man. The ceremony was short and sweet and afterwards we all hung out in the kitchen for a bit before we headed out to a near by park to do some family photographs and pop a little champagne.
I really enjoyed documenting this ceremony, there is something to be said about the intimacy and naturally relaxed nature of having a simple wedding surrounded by only your close family. I love all forms of weddings and celebration of love, big or small but intimate weddings or elopements are something I truly want to begin to spend more time focusing on.
