At Home Lifestyle Newborn Session – Owen’s Journey

Being asked to document Owen’s newborn session was truly an honour for me, not just because Kensie herself is a powerhouse entrepreneur and talented photographer but because I knew this lifestyle family session meant much more than capturing a few good images. It was documenting the resilience and strength of a family – showcasing a little miracle right here in Edmonton.

Theres that saying, “life only gives you what you can handle” but I think that sometimes life does give you more than you can handle – and it’s freaking terrifying. But, hear me out because I think throughout these circumstances they do shape us to be who we are for the rest of our lives – they shift how we see the world and what we value most – they make us stronger than we ever imagined we needed to be.

Owens story is nothing short of proof that even in the toughest of times, we gain strength and faith from the unknown.

Born at only 24 weeks gestation and weighing a whooping 1lb 10 oz, these first time parents were faced with a truly scary and unknown situation (not to mention right in the middle of a world pandemic, which made visiting and family support very difficult) They spent 94 days in the NICU with their little miracle boy and after all the ups and downs, they were allowed to take  Owen – oxygen tank and feeding tube free – safely home!

Thank you so much for allowing me into your space and to capture little Owen.

Fun fact we ended up doing this session on his official due date – July 29th – which made him just shy of 4 months old when we did this!

I can’t wait to continue to watch him grow and watch your family grow – truly you all are INCREDIBLE humans and I have a lot of love for you three.
