Kara’s Maternity Session
Boho Inspired Maternity Session
“Embrace and love your body. It’s the most amazing thing you’ll ever own”
Kara and I first met when we attended the Inspire [d] retreat hosted by Myrtle and Moss Photography (check out my past blog here for all the details!) and we hit it off right away. I was a new mom and she had two beautiful boys of her own. We talked about life, the balancing act of motherhood and business and how so much of our struggles seemed to be a lack of confidence in ourselves and our abilities. We lifted each other up, we shared and taught each other that it’s ok to fail but to keep going forward anyway.
When she contacted me to ask if I would be willing to do her maternity photos I was completely humbled, Kara is an incredibly talented photographer herself – creep her —> NOW – and it was such an honour that she thought of me to capture such a special time in her life.
We planned for a few weeks and settled on the gorgeous studio of Home By Blondy located here in Edmonton to be the setting of our boho inspired maternity session! The ladies of Behind the Blush dolled up Kara and we got our creative game on. Working with another photographer is so fun, sure it can be a little intimidating but I feel like most photographers are more nervous to be in front of the camera then behind (isn’t that strange haha) My goal for this session was to show Kara how incredibly beautiful she was, hosting and creating a human being. She is no stranger to motherhood, this little bean was her third baby boy and she was totally aware of the joys and hardships of pregnancy.
I am so thankful that within this photography world I have made connections with so many wonderful woman. Woman who truly inspire me and lift me up. I feel like a lot of times we live in a world where everyone is constantly sizing each other up and competing secretly with one another. It’s so nice to be able to make true genuine connections and share not only our passion for our love of photography but for the others areas in our lives. Kara isn’t just a photographer, no, she’s a mother, a wife, a friend, a beautiful human being and I wanted to show her all those sides of her.
Thank you so much for trusting me to document your beautiful baby belly. For allowing me to see a part of you that you don’t often let others see. You are the definition of “Strong As A Mother” and I love the shit out of you.
Sidenote, Kara welcomed a healthy and handsome baby boy into the world May 3rd – Remy Haze Rohl.
